SHORT ANSWER

Sometimes in tourist settings — but do not rely on euros. Morocco’s everyday currency is the dirham.

SHORT VERSION

Bring access to euros if useful, but spend in dirhams

Tourist businesses may quote foreign-currency prices, especially for accommodation or tours. That does not mean euros are accepted everywhere.

LOCAL PURCHASES

Dirhams are the practical choice

Morocco’s tourism authority explicitly recommends paying in dirhams where card payment is not available. Small shops, cafés, taxis and markets are the situations where local cash matters most.

EXCHANGE

Changing euros is straightforward in tourist cities

Exchange offices are common in tourist centres, and exchange is also available at airports, banks and some hotels. Compare the displayed rate before changing a large amount.

AVOID CONFUSION

Confirm the currency when a price is quoted

For tours, riads or private transfers, make sure you know whether a quoted number is MAD, EUR or another currency before agreeing.
